He departed this life Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at the Barnes-Jewish Medical Center, St. Louis, at the age of fifty-five years, two months and twenty seven days. [TEXT OMITTED] [SURVIVORS OMITTED] In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Brandon David Turntine; one sister, Beatrice Turnbull and two brothers, Charles and Johnie Turntine. Donnie loved many things in his life, most of all his loving and devoted wife and children. Some of his most cherished moments were the days he and spent in their boat fishing, picnicking or just spending time together. He always looked forward to what lunch [NAME OMITTED] had prepared for them that day. Not only was he always ready to take on the role of being a wonderful father to his kids, but also their loving and trusted friend. Many people loved and admired him. Listening to his stories were a favorite pastime by all. He could amuse everyone with the same story for years and years. Later in his life, his greatest joy was his beautiful granddaughters. The joy their hugs, kisses and smiles gave him filled many of his days. No matter how he felt, he always spent quality time playing games, cards or just pitching a few balls to them. Their love deeply warmed his heart. Donnie spent many hours running BINGO for the AmVets in DeSoto. He got a great joy from not only helping raise the money for the organization, which he did very well, but getting to socialize with all the people. He always had a warm smile and a "How are you, Hon" for everyone present. Donnie was truly one of the "few good men" people of all ages loved, admired and felt the warmth and love he had for all. He wanted everyone to live with his wonderful memories and remember life is short, live well and be happy. Visitation was held Thursday, October 2, 2003, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Friday, October 3, 2003, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, October 3, 2003, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Music was provided by the St. Joachim Church Choir. Burial was in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Shane Blair, Tim Miller, Keith Miller, Mike Miller, Jim Ayres, Marley Bizzle, Jim Turntine, Gene Johnson and Eric Lawson. Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
