Note: On March 18, 1837, David May purchased land from Hardin Robbins in Decatur County, Indiana. From Decatur County, this family emigrated to DeKalb, Buchanan County, Missouri about 1838. In 1844 David May and his family travelled by oxteam to Texas where they settled on 600 acres of land where the city of Dalla(s) now stands and planned to enter the cattle business. But in 1846 David May became ill and then died of Texas fever and was buried in a (p)ecan grove on the banks of the Trinity River.
