Pierce, 86 AUG. 6, 1918-MAY 18, 2005 CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mildred Walter Pierce, 86, of 1425 Philadelphia Ave., and formerly of 341 Stonegate Circle, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, in Penn Hall Nursing Home. Born Aug. 6, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Mary John Walter. Her husband of 56 years, James E. Pierce, died Aug. 28, 2001. She was a 1936 graduate of Chambersburg High School and later graduated from the Protestant Episcopal School of Nursing, Philadelphia, in 1939. She worked for the U.S. federal government in the Washington, D.C., area. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She was a member of NARFE Chapter 1063. (SURVIVORS OMITTED) She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Jack, and Larry. Memorial services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Penn Hall Chapel. Pastor Robert Keener will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, Pa. There will be no viewing. It was her wish that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to Penn Hall, 1425 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chambersburg.
