Daran was born April 7, 1961 in Chambersburg, a son of Gerald L. Pogue and Sandra L. (Adams) Pogue of Chambersburg. He graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1979 and worked as a welder for Ingersoll Rand, Shippensburg, until becoming disabled. Daran loved to hunt and fish and had a fervent interest and respect for Native American artifacts and lore and also politics.
