James McCroskey(1)#6, son of John #1, b. ca 1712 North Ireland. Came to America with his parents about 1735. Married to Elizabeth (last name –perhaps Hays). Died about 1781 or 1782. After James' death, Elizabeth married Billingsby Gibson, from Ireland, who was in the Rev. War. The following are believed to be the children of James and Elizabeth: · James(2)#34, believed to have been born about 1766, and when grown lived in Washington Co., Va.; m.(1) Ann Duff (2) Rebecca Avent. · John(2)#14, who is believed to have lived first in Washington Co., Va.; m. Margaret Duff; moved to South Carolina, then Georgia. · Francis(2)#986, who lived first in Washington Co., Va., and later in Mecklenburg Co., N.C., and still later in Morgan Co., AL. There were probably other children in this family who have yet to be identified. One may have been Rachel. Source: McCroskey, Kyle.
