Mr. Arthur (Art) Calvin John, Jr. left this world to meet his Savior on April 1, 2020 in Greenville, Texas at the age of 81. SURVIVORS OMITTED. He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur John Sr., his mother Doris John, and his sister Linda John Heaper.
Art John was born on December 10, 1938 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania to Arthur C. John, Sr. and Doris John. He graduated from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas in 1956. After graduating from high school, Art served his country with honor in the Navy until 1963. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Art began employment in the electronics industry, made possible by his experience in the Navy. He also spent many years working as a quality control manager, ISO auditor and instructor. While working full-time and raising two daughters, Art attended college and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Abilene Christian University at Dallas in 1979. Later, he earned his MBA at Amber University in 1991.
In 1984, Art married SURVIVOR OMITTED. They established their home in Garland, Texas and later moved to Lake O’ the Pines where they enjoyed many wonderful years together in the East Texas pines. Art was active in the community including serving as a volunteer fireman and officer of the neighborhood homeowner association. Art's and SURVIVOR OMITTED front door was always open and a bed always available for visitors to their East Texas home. Many wonderful memories were made with their children, grandchildren, friends and family who spent time in their home.
Throughout his lifetime, Art maintained a witty sense of humor and a love for John Wayne, old westerns, fast and loud cars, RVing and being a handyman for about anything. He was a devoted Christian who shared his love and faith in Christ with those around him. He was a thoughtful and considerate husband, loving and doting father, a faithful friend, a servant of Christ and true patriot. He was a proud American that loved and supported his country. Art was a former member of Harleton Baptist Church (Harleton Texas) and a current member of First Baptist Church, Greenville Texas. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Due to COVID-19 no memorial service or family visitation time will be available at this time. The family plans to have a memorial service for family and friends at some point in the future. Pastor Roy Youngblood will officiate the graveside service for the immediate family on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the IOOF Caddo Mills Cemetery.
