Gable was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, November 4, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gable. In 1894 he married Rose John, to whom he had one son, Paul R. Mr. Gable was a member of First Lutheran Church and Served on the Church Council. As a trustee on the Council, he was actively and effectively interested in the duties of the office, giving generously of his time and experience to the proper maintenance of the property of the church. For many years Mr. Gable was the leading sign painter of Chambersburg. He was a skilled technician and had artistic gifts which lifted his more important assignments above the level of the routine in his chosen trade. At that period when decoration played a much more important part in the painting and lettering of vehicles of commerce than it does today, his services were in wide demand and there was scarcely a business firm of Chambersburg which had not availed itself of his abilities. Mr. Gable died December 10, 1942. Burial was made in Norland Cemetery. Source: (Donna Forney Clark: Book of Memories may also be the source of the obituary above.
