Obituary:
Marvin A. Robbins
Marvin A. Robbins, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013 in his Lafayette residence after a 22 month illness. He was born on June 4, 1934 to the late Harry and Gladys (Brand) Robbins in Clarks Hill where he was raised and attended school.
Marvin began his lifelong career in construction and heavy equipment operation after serving six years in the U.S. Army. He was a supervisor for Van Meter Constuction in Lafayette, and Shuck & Sons and Gradex, both of Indianapolis. He worked statewide on many large projects before retiring in 1997, and was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 103.
Marvin was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and a loyal member of Beta Phi Sigma Fraternity, where he had served as president for three years. He was also a member of the Johnson's Ballroom Dance Club, the Eagles and Moose lodges, both of Lafayette as well as a member of the Monticello, IN. American Legion. Marvin was a fan of both Purdue University and Franklin College football, and a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He loved classic cars, and enjoyed showing his red Spitfire at car shows in the Midwest. Marvin proudly took the honor of 1st Place Spitfire at the Eastern Region SPIT-TOGETHER in Carlisle, PA in May 2008.
